Sometime it’s about the awkward date, but more often than not it’s because of the hideous get-up you inexplicably thought was a good idea at the time. Fortunately for Bey, she is not mortal, and her prom snap is as stunning as ours was unfortunate.

From her perfect pin curls to her sexy gown (which just happens to boast two of this years’ most prolific trends: high-slits and cut-outs) we’re simply astounded that someone could look so put together as a 17-year-old in the ’90s.

In fact, if it weren’t for the gown’s swirl print, we’d even go as far as to say that we could have seen it on one of fashion month’s fierce femme runways.
Dress aside, there’s also B’s other statement accessory — her date Lyndall Locke. While the tuxedo-clad gentleman could never hold a candle to the queen, we think they make a fine-looking pair. Sadly, with the unveiling of this vintage snap,
